Ruin Lützelhardt

The castle Lützelhardt (French Lutzelhardt ) is a medieval castle west of Upper Steinbach in Alsace. She is a rock fortress and is located in 330 meters. The ruin is not to be confused with the homonymous castle Lützelhard at Seelbach in the Black Forest.

Description

Pre-and main castle located on a 20 meter high, 60 × 10 meter plateau. Basement, cistern, remains of the keep and the residential buildings have been preserved.

History

The Lützelhardt castle was probably built around 1200 by the governors of Wasselnheim. The first written mention dates back to the year 1250. 1297 was the castle Bailiwick castle of the Duke of Lorraine.
