Château du Sart

The Castle Le Sart in the quarter Le Sart- Babylone the French town of Villeneuve d'Ascq in the department of Nord. The Water Castle is a building in classical style from red brick and white limestone.

History

The castle was built in 1740, but rarely by its owners, the lords of Fourmestraux inhabited. It housed the very extensive library Van Der Cruisse de Waziers, which was destroyed during World War II by German troops.

In the courtyard of the former outbuildings of the castle is a polygonal pigeon tower, which was built in 1761 and since December 1988 is available as a monument historique a historical monument.

Has been since the castle park converted into a golf course with 18 holes, the castle building serves as a clubhouse for the golf club located there.
