The Château Haut- Marbuzet is a winery in the Bordeaux vineyards. It is located in the commune of Saint -Estèphe, which is one of four local appellations of the Medoc. The Grand Vin Château Haut- Marbuzet is classified as Cru Bourgeois Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel since 1932 and in the classification of 2003. Château Haut- Marbuzet provides loud Ecker a favorable price- pleasure ratio and is equivalent to a second, or at least a third Grand Cru Classé in the quality ranking.

History

The origins of Château Haut- Marbuzet lies in 1848 was divided as the winery MacCarthy. To a certain notoriety it brought the winery in 1952, came as Château Haut- Marbuzet in the possession of the Duboscq family. At that time bought Hervé Duboscq fallow vineyards of 7 hectares Self-taught in the wine he ordered the new vineyards and drove some of its wine production in direct marketing. Vines and Wine

The vineyards of currently about 65 ha are located in the southern part of Saint Estèphe Château Cos d' Estournel and between Château Montrose, both classified as Grand Cru Classé. The Château Haut- Marbuzet and its Rebparzellen are located on a gravel terrace, which rises near the left bank of the Gironde. The proportion of grape varieties distributed to approximately 50 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 40 % Merlot and 10 % Cabernet Franc. The high proportion of Merlot is typical of the wines of Château Haut- Marbuzet and he is unusually high for wines from Saint -Estephe.

Henri Duboscq rejects claims to be from chemical weed killers. For the harvest is awaited to term or even to the slight over-ripeness. The individual plots and grape varieties are vinified separately without the addition of yeast and subsequently selected for the Grand Vin Château Haut- Marbuzet.

The wines of the recent history of Château Haut- Marbuzet were always recommended in the famous French Guide Hachette: each 1 star ( maximum of 3) for the vintages 2005 and 2006; 2 stars were for the vintages 2007 and 2008.

In a note to Primeur tasting of the 2005 vintage in April 2006 Ecker writes to Château Haut- Marbuzet include: " Fine, almost closed, recognizable complex bouquet ( cherries, cassis, and subtle honeyed flowers, roses, chocolate); (...); by releasing fresh with a long finish and finesse, potential. "
