Château Raymond-Lafon

Château Raymond - Lafon is a wine estate in the French Appellation d' Origine Sauternes. Within this appellation white dessert wines of the highest quality are produced with the help of the noble rot Botrytis cinerea; the returns are fixed in the appellation to a maximum of 25 hl / ha. Château Raymond - Lafon, however, is limited by rigorous selection of only 8.5 hl / ha.

1972 Château Raymond - Lafon has been adopted by the couple Francine and Pierre Meslier. Previously, Pierre Meslier headed for many years as Technical Director, the world-famous neighboring estate Château d'Yquem. He transferred to the high quality standards at his own good. Since 1979, world-class wines are produced with great regularity. The farm has an area of ​​18 hectares, of which 15.2 hectares in production. The average age of the vines is 35 years ( as of 2004). We process the grape varieties Sémillon (80 % of the area ) and Sauvignon Blanc ( 20%). On average, about 20,000 bottles are produced. Before the marketing of the wine is aged three years in oak barrels.
