Chattahoochee County, Georgia

The Chattahoochee County is a county located in the state of Georgia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Cusseta. In 2000, the County had 14,882 inhabitants and a population density of 23 inhabitants per square kilometer.

Geography

The County is located in the west of Georgia, bordering even on the west by Alabama. It has an area of 651 square kilometers, of which six square kilometers of water surface are bordered clockwise to the following counties: Talbot County, Marion County, Stewart County and Muscogee County.

History

Chattahoochee County was formed on February 13, 1854 from parts of Marion County and Muscogee County. It was named for the Chattahoochee River, which forms the western Countygrenze.
