Chautauqua County (New York)
Chautauqua County is a county located in the state of New York in the United States. In the 2000 census, the county had 139,750 inhabitants and a population density of 51 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Mayville.
Geography
The county has an area of 3885 square kilometers, of which 1134 square miles are water. Chautauqua County is bordered on the north by Lake Erie, northeast of Erie County ( New York), to the east by Cattaraugus County, to the south by Warren County ( Pennsylvania) and on the southwest by Erie County ( Pennsylvania).
