Chavriata

Chavriata (Greek Χαβριάτα (n. pl. ), Also Havriata, Italian Cavriata ), is a town in the southwest of the district Palliki Palliki peninsula in the town and island of Kefalonia in Greece. Chavriata has 216 inhabitants (as of 2011).

The philosopher Vikentios Damodos founded in 1723 in the village of a philosophical school of national importance.

In 1997 the place was incorporated to Lixouri and is in the course of administrative reform since 2010 part of the municipality Kefalonia.

Worth seeing is the iconostasis and the frescoes in the church of the Panagia. Because of the altitude, the resort offers a good view over the peninsula and has earned him the nickname " Balkoni tou Ioniou " ( balcony of the Ionian Sea).
