Chawang District

Amphoe Chawang ( Thai: อำเภอ ฉวาง ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Nakhon Si Thammarat. The Nakhon Si Thammarat province is located in the southern region of Thailand, about 780 km south of Bangkok on the east coast of the Malay Peninsula to the Gulf of Thailand.

Geography

Neighbouring districts ( from northeast clockwise): Amphoe the Phipun, Lan Saka, Chang Klang, Na Bon, Thung Yai and Tham Phannara in Nakhon Si Thammarat and Wiang Sa in the province of Surat Thani.

To the west of the district is the National Park Khao Luang.

Management

Amphoe Chawang is divided into ten municipalities ( tambon), which in turn in 84 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

There are three small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Chan Di consists of the whole Tambon Chan Di,
  • Chawang covers parts of tambon Chawang,
  • May Riang covers parts of tambon May Riang.

In addition, there are nine " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
