Cheboksary Reservoir

The Tscheboksarsker Reservoir (Russian Чебоксарское водохранилище / Tscheboksarskoje wodochranilischtsche ) is a reservoir on the Volga River in the European part of Russia. It belongs to the so-called Volga - Kama cascade.

The reservoir extends along the middle reaches of the Volga River about 100 kilometers above Novocheboksarsk. In the reservoir, which has 2274 km ² and 13.8 billion cubic meters of storage space, open the Vetluga from the north and the south of Sura. The largest city on Tscheboksarsker Reservoir is - next to Cheboksary, the capital of the Chuvash Republic - Kosmodemjansk.

In the Erdschüttdamm ( ⊙ 56.13888888888947.466666666667 ) were integrated a weir for flood relief and a two- chamber lock with a maximum of 18 m height for shipping. In the 570 m long and 70 m wide power plant building work 18 turbines, which make a total of 1,404 MW.

Crossing the dam the highway " Vyatka " from Cheboksary leads to Kirov.
