Chelidonic acid, 4 -oxo- 4Hpyran - 2 ,6 -dicarboxylic acid, is a heterocyclic organic dicarboxylic acid. It has a pyran skeleton.
Representation
For the production of chelidonic acetone is first converted into a double Claisen condensation with diethyl oxalate. As the base, sodium ethoxide is conveniently used. Here the resulting 2,4,6- trioxo -1 ,7 -dicarboxylate may then be cyclized by means of aqueous hydrochloric acid chelidonic acid.
Properties
Chelidonic is a colorless and odorless solid that melts at 260 ° C. It dissolves poorly in water.
Reactions
Chelidonic acid by reduction can be used for the preparation of 2,6- Pyrandicarbonsäuren. For reducing a palladium catalyst, for example, be used.
Chelidonic reacts with amines to Hydropyridindicarbonsäure derivatives. So chelidamic acid can be obtained by the reaction with ammonia of chelidonic acid.
Primary amines are used in place of ammonia, pyridine, N-alkylated may be obtained.
