Chemical stability

Chemical stability means thermodynamic stability of a chemical system, in particular a chemical compound.

Thermodynamically stable is called a chemical system when it is in the lowest energy state or in chemical equilibrium with its environment. This can be also be a steady state.

A state A is referred to as thermodynamically more stable than the state B, if the free energy in the transition from A to B is positive.
