Chen Xiexia

Chen Xiexia (陈 燮 霞, Chén Xiexia; born August 1, 1983 in Panyu ) is a Chinese weightlifter in the weight category up to 48 kilograms. She was a member of the Chinese squad for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and won in a duel the first gold medal for China in these games.

Career

At the World Weightlifting Championships 2007 in Chiang Mai Chen Xiexia won three gold medals: with 96 kg in the snatch, 118 kg in the jerk and 214 kg in the total. This she repeated in the same year at the Asian Cup, where they also won all three titles, with 120 kg set a world record in the jerk and total 215 kg lifted. Chen Xiexia belongs to the Chinese team at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. There she won the gold medal in the duel with 95 kg in the snatch and 117 kg in bumping. With a total of 212 kg Chen Xiexia set a new Olympic record, the world record is 217 kg.
