Cheng Pei-pei

Cheng Pei- pei (Chinese郑佩佩, Pinyin Zheng PeiPei, born December 4, 1946 in Shanghai, China) is a Chinese actress, known for her roles as a fighter in many wuxia films.

Biography

Born in 1946 in Shanghai Cheng started at a young age her film career at Shaw Brothers in Hong Kong. Already at 19, she had her big break in King Hu wuxia film Come Drink With Me ( Engl. title Sword of yellow tigress ). Hu cast her for the role of Golden Swallow, as she brought ballet experience as a dancer and so was able to master the fight scenes. Although there have also been previously female fighter in Chinese cinema, but this film reached in this respect a new level. So Come Drink With Me Cheng made ​​practically overnight star.

In the following years she starred in many wuxia films and became the main actress of the so-called "Sword Woman" roles in Hong Kong cinema.
