Chengjiang County

Chengjiang (Chinese澂 江 县, Pinyin Chengjiang Xiàn ), sometimes also written with the characters澄江 县, is a county in the east of China's Yunnan province. He belongs to the administrative area of the prefecture-level city of Yuxi and is north of Fuxian Lake. In 1999, he counted 146 293 inhabitants.

Chengjiang fauna

Chengjiang is the site of a fossil fauna, the Chengjiang Faunengemeinschaft (澄江 动物 群, Chengjiang dòngwùqún ), which was discovered in the slate of Maotian Shan (帽 天山). The archaeological site was included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 2012.
