Chengxiang District

Chengxiang (Chinese城厢 区) is a district of the prefecture-level city of Putian in Fujian province, China. Chengxiang is the center of Putian and is also the seat of city government. The municipality is situated on the Taiwan Strait halfway between Fuzhou and Xiamen. Due to its production of lychees he also has the nickname of lychee city.

Chengxiang has an area of 484 km ² ( according to other sources: 502 km ² ), approximately 360,000 inhabitants ( end of 2004) and a gross domestic product of 1.8 billion yuan ( 2002). The GDP per capita was 9,058 yuan, which is below the average for the province of Fujian.
