Chenodeoxycholic acid, cholic acid belongs next to the primary bile acids. Chemically it is the group of sterols ( sterols ) belonging steroid. Its salts are called Chenodesoxycholate.
Biochemistry
Education
Chenodeoxycholic acid is one of the four most commonly produced by the liver acids. It is made there over the intermediate pregnenolone from cholesterol.
Function
Chenodeoxycholic acid and other bile acids that act as an emulsifier. During digestion they emulsify fats, making them so accessible to lipases.
Approximately 90 % of the bile acids are reabsorbed in the small intestine and thus reach for reuse back into the liver back.
