Cherokee County (Alabama)

Cherokee County is a county located in the state of Alabama in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Centre. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located in northeastern Alabama, on the east by Georgia, is located in the north about 60 miles from Tennessee and has an area of 1554 square kilometers, of which 121 square kilometers are water surface. History

Cherokee County was formed on January 9, 1836 from parts of the former the Cherokees belonging to the country. It was named after the previously living here Cherokees. The first was the county seat in Cedar Bluff. 1844 was then Centre.
