Chesapeake Energy Arena

The Chesapeake Energy Arena (previous name: Oklahoma City Arena ) is a multi-purpose arena in Oklahoma City. It was opened on June 8, 2002, three years after construction began. The construction cost of 89 million U.S. dollars and is owned by the city of Oklahoma City.

The Arena is officially 54.400m ² and has 19,675 seats, spread over 4 levels with 3,380 club seats, seven party seats and 49 private sitting.

The hall is used by the Oklahoma City Thunder (NBA), the Oklahoma City Blazers (CHL ) and the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz ( af2 ) used as a venue. After Hurricane Katrina, the hall was also alternative venue of the New Orleans Hornets of the NBA. In addition, the arena for concerts and similar events will be used.

On July 22, 2011 gave the Oklahoma City Thunder and Chesapeake Energy Corporation, the second largest natural gas producer in the U.S., on a sponsoring contract for the naming rights known. The agreement has a term of 12 years and the first year the value of 3 million U.S. dollars, with an annual growth rate of 3 %.

Also slight cosmetic changes to the arena were made to the 2011/2012 season. The premises of the Thunder were modernized and refurbished and it was a new LED video cube installed in the hall.
