Chester A. Chesney

Anton Chester "Chet " Chesney ( born March 9, 1916 in Chicago, Illinois; † 20 September 1986 Marco Iceland, Florida ) was an American politician. Between 1949 and 1951 he represented the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Chester Chesney attended St. Hyacinth and Lane Technical High School and then studied until 1938 at DePaul University in Chicago. In the years 1939 and 1940 he was a professional football player for the Chicago Bears, with whom in 1940 he won the NFL championship. During the Second World War, he served from 1941 in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was used both in the Pacific and in Europe. Upon leaving the military service he had made it to the Major. In the years 1946 and 1947, Chesney worked for the Veterans authority in Hines. At the same time he finished at Northwestern University a course in trade theory. In the years 1948 and 1949 he worked for the company Montgomery Ward & Co operates. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1948, Chesney was in the eleventh electoral district of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of the Republican Chauncey W. Reed on January 3, 1949. Since he has not been confirmed in 1950, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until January 3, 1951. This was marked by the events of the Cold War.

In August 1968, Chesney took part in Chicago as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention. He was also vice president and a director of Avondale Savings & Loan Association. Chester Chesney died on 20 September 1986 Marco Iceland, where he had spent his twilight years.
