Chester Greenwood

Chester Greenwood (* 1858 in Farmington, Maine, † 1937) was an American inventor. He invented the earmuffs.

He was one of six children, lived on a farm and had dropped out of school. Ice skating on the Abbot Pond, he froze on the ears and around the head wound scarf slipped down constantly. Home he bent handle a few clincher and asked his grandmother to sew fur on it. On March 13, 1877 he received a patent on its Greenwood Champion Ear Protector and so and more than 130 other patents earned a fortune.
