Chester O. Carrier

Chester Otto Carrier ( born May 5, in 1897 Brownsville, Edmonson County, Kentucky; † 24 September 1980 in North Seminole, Florida ) was an American politician. Between 1943 and 1945 he represented the state of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Chester Carrier attended the public schools in Grayson County. Then he studied at West Virginia University in Morgantown. In the meantime, he worked for a year on a ranch in Wyoming and on the railroad in Pennsylvania. After studying law at the University of Louisville and his 1924 was admitted as a lawyer, he began to practice in Leitchfield in this profession. Between 1925 and 1943 he was a prosecutor in Grayson County.

Politically, Carrier member of the Republican Party. After the death of Mr Edward W. Creal he was in the fourth electoral district of Kentucky as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on 30 November 1943. Since 1944 he Democrat Frank Chelf defeated in the regular congressional elections of the year, he could finish only the opened term of his predecessor in Congress until January 3, 1945. This period was marked by the events of the Second World War.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Carrier practiced again as a lawyer in Leitchfield. He spent his retirement years in Seminole County, Florida; there he is on 24 September 1980 was passed.
