Chet Helms

Chester Leo " Chet " Helms ( born August 2, 1942 in Santa Maria, California, † 25 June 2005 in San Francisco) was known as " Father of the '67 Summer of Love".

He was co-founder and manager of the group Big Brother & the Holding Company and Janis Joplin got into the band. He organized under the name Family Dog Productions, inter alia, with Bill Graham concerts at the Fillmore Auditorium, Winterland and the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco.

In 1970 he retired from the concert business back and managed an art gallery and worked as a photographer. He died of a stroke. With him one of the great personalities of the hippie era, has died. After his death, his urn at the Neptune Society Columbarium of San Francisco was buried.
