Chevrolet Bruin

GMC Brigadier

The Chevrolet Bruin - also sold as GMC Brigadier - was a heavy truck, the General Motors produced in model years 1978 to 1988. Both models were Hood truck and had the same cab the 9500 series, which was introduced in 1966. This cab was better constructed than for large trucks usual, but larger than the cab of a pickup truck, as defined in the same series manufactured C40 - C65 were used.

There were diesel engines of Caterpillar, Cummins and Detroit Diesel to choose from.

Bruin followed the pattern of "frontier beast " names that received the larger Chevrolet trucks, such as bison ( larger) and Kodiak ( smaller). Brigadier followed the pattern of military ranks names that GMCs were large trucks. Unlike the Chevrolet Titan / GMC Astro and Chevrolet Bison / GMC General there was for the Bruin / Brigadier in the Chevrolet Kodiak / GMC Topkick / Isuzu H-Series a suitable successor.

The GMC version was more common than the Chevrolet.
