Chi-Huey Wong

Chi -Huey Wong ( born August 3, 1948 in Taiwan) is a Taiwanese biochemist and professor of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California.

Life

Wong received a Bachelor 's and Master's degree in science from the National Taiwan University in Taipei, Taiwan. 1982 Wong received his Ph.D. in chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After completing his postdoctoral researchers at Harvard University, he became an Assistant Professor at Texas A & M University and then a professor at the Scripps Research Institute.

Since 2004, Wong is the founding director of the Genomics Research Center of Academia Sinica and in October 2006 elected president of the Academia Sinica, the National Academy in Taiwan.

His specialization is in the field of bioorganic chemistry, especially in the field of carbohydrate chemistry and the so-called chemical proteomics. Wong is a member of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States and member of the Academia Sinica, the Academy of the Republic of China.

For 2014, it the Wolf Prize in Chemistry was awarded.
