Chía, Aragon

Chía is a municipality in the province of Huesca in the autonomous community of Aragon in Spain. It is located in the comarca of Ribagorza at the foot of the Sierra de Chía. In Chía as a Benasques (or Patués ) known Catalan- Aragonese transitional dialect is spoken as in the whole valley of Benasque.

Chia is called around the year 1015 for the first time.

Attractions

  • Building in the Pyrenees architecture.
  • The hermitage of San Martín de Chía from the 13th century. An altar frontal San Martín is on display at the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya in Barcelona.
  • The original Romanesque church of San Vicente.
