Chiang Khong District

Amphoe Chiang Khong ( in Thai: อำเภอ เชียงของ ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the northeastern province of Chiang Rai. The Chiang Rai province is located in the extreme north of the northern region of Thailand.

Geography

Neighboring districts are (from south-east clockwise): Amphoe Wiang Kaen which, Khun Tan, Phaya Meng Rai, Wiang Chiang Rung, Doi Luang, Chiang Saen. To the east of Chiang Khong Ban Houayxay is the Laotian province of Bokeo. The most important river in the district is the Mekong, which partly forms the border with Laos.

Management

The circle is divided into seven subdistricts (tambon ), which are further subdivided into 117 villages ( Muban ).

There are two small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Wiang Chiang Khong consists of parts of the tambon Wiang
  • Bun Rueang consists of all the same Tambon.

In addition, there are six " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.

The missing numbers refer to tambon which now form the circle Wiang Kaen.
