Chiang Muan District

Amphoe Chiang Muan ( Thai: อำเภอ เชียงม่วน ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the south of the province of Phayao. The Phayao province is located in the northeastern part of North Thailand.

Geography

Amphoe Chiang Muan is located in the southern province of Phayao and borders the provinces of Nan and Phrae.

Chiang Muan is bordered from west clockwise as seen at the Amphoe Dok Khamtai and Pong in the province of Phayao, Amphoe Ban Luang in Nan province and song in Phrae province.

An important river of the district is Maenam Yom ( Yom River ).

The National Park Doi Phu Nang is also in Chiang Muan.

Education

Chiang Muan was financially supported by the Thai government to improve the education situation in rural areas of Phayao. Then the Chiang Muan Wittayakhom school could be built, which is designed as a secondary school for grades 6-12.

History

Chiang Muan was originally part of Amphoe Ban Muang ( บ้านม่วง ) Chiang Rai province, which was later renamed as Amphoe Pong. On May 12, 1969, the King Amphoe (small district) Chiang Muan was formed as a subordinate administrative unit of Amphoe Pong and included the two tambon Chiang Muan and Sat April 1, 1974 this was then the upgrade to the full Amphoe. After 1977, the new province was formed Phayao, Chiang Mun was brought into this.

Management

Amphoe Chiang Muan consists of three sub-districts ( tambon), which further into 34 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

Chiang Muan is also the name of a small town ( thesaban tambon) in the district, which consists of the majority of the Tambon Chiang Muan and parts of Ban Mang.

There are also three " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
