Chiang Yuen District

Amphoe Chiang Yuen ( Thai อำเภอ เชียงยืน ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the north of the province of Maha Sarakham. The Maha Sarakham Province is located in the center of northeast Thailand, the so-called Isaan.

Geography

Amphoe Chiang Yuen borders the following districts (from north clockwise): Amphoe Chuen Chom at Maha Sarakham Province, Amphoe Yang Talat in the province of Kalasin, to the Amphoe Kantharawichai and Kosum Phisai Maha Sarakham in turn, as well as to the Amphoe Mueang Khon Kaen and Sam Sung province Khon Kaen.

History

Amphoe Chiang Yuen was born on August 16, 1958 initially as a small district ( King Amphoe ) was established by the four Tambon Chiang Yuen Chuen Chom, Ku Thong and Nong Son were separated from Amphoe Kantharawichai. On 11 December 1959 he was promoted to Amphoe.

Management

Amphoe Chiang Yuen is divided into eight municipalities ( tambon), which in turn in 116 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

There are two small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Chiang Yuen ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล เชียงยืน ), consisting of parts of the tambon Chiang Yuen,
  • Phon Thong ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล โพนทอง ), consisting of the whole tambon Phon Thong.

In addition, there are seven " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.

Note: the missing numbers refer to tambon which now belong to Chuen Chom.
