Chiara Costazza

Chiara Costazza ( born May 6, 1984 in Cavalese ) is an Italian alpine skier. She specializes in the slalom and giant slalom.

Biography

In December 1999 Costazza denied first FIS races, sporadic operations in the European Cup was followed in February 2000. Their debut in the World Cup they had on 23 December 2002 in the Slalom at Lenzerheide. Due to injury, she could not drive a single race in the season 2003/ 04. Since the season 2004/ 05 she regularly takes part in World Cup race, the first World Cup points she brought on 29 December 2005 as the 15th of the slalom in Semmering.

Costazza failed to qualify for the 2006 Olympic Winter Games; the Olympic slalom race in Sestriere she ended surprisingly in eighth place. In their two previous appearances at the World Championships (2005 and 2007 ), however, they could not classify themselves. After Costazza had achieved their first podium finish in the first World Cup slalom of the season 2007/ 08 on the Reiteralm with the third place, they celebrated six weeks later, on December 29, 2007 in Lienz her first World Cup victory. The season she finished in seventh place in the slalom World Cup.

29 November 2008 Costazza crashed in the first run of the giant slalom in Aspen and retired while in his left foot a tear of Achilles tendon. In the 2008 /09 season could therefore go no further races. Since her injury Costazza only start in the World Cup in slalom. But so far they could not build on the successes of the season 2007/ 08. At the Olympic Winter Games 2010, she fell from the second passage after she was 25 in the first run.
