Chicka Dixon

, Also called Charles Dixon Charles Chicka Dixon, (* 1928, † March 20, 2010 in Sydney) is a political activist in the Aborigines of Australia.

Life

About his life little is known. From a young age he took in 1946 at a political event in part. In the 1950s he lived in Redfern, a suburb of Sydney. In the 1970s, worked in Sydney Harbour, where it is a lung disease asbestosis drew upon. About his political life, there is a 27- minute long DVD.

Policy

In the 1960s, he was spokesman for the Federal Council for the Advancement of Aborigines and Torres Strait Islanders. He supported the referendum for Aboriginal rights in 1967 and the construction of the Tent Embassy in front of the Old Parliament House in the Australian capital Canberra in 1972. 1983 Dixon was elected Aboriginal of the Year. In 2006 he was awarded an honorary doctorate for his social commitment of the University of New South Wales.

In November 2007 it was announced that the Australian Security Intelligence Organization ( intelligence ) it monitored and more than 150 pages of information had created about him.
