Chicoana Department

The department Chicoana located in the center of the province of Salta in northwestern Argentina and is one of 23 administrative units in the province.

It is bordered on the north by the departments Rosario de Lerma and Cerrillos, on the east by the department of Capital, on the south by the department of La Viña, and to the west by the departments of San Carlos and Cachi.

The capital of the department is the same Chicoana.

Climate

The average temperature is 17 ° C ( maximum 36 ° - Minimum 6 °). The relative humidity varies between 20 and 80 percent. The annual rainfall can exceed 800 millimeters.

Economy

Main crops in agriculture are tobacco of Virginia and Criollo varieties, beans, corn, squash, and peppers, peas, peppers, apples, lemon, peach and plum. The livestock breeding cattle, sheep and goats. In forestry, we find the laurel tree, the carob tree and the walnut.
