The Réserve écologique Chicobi is a 21.23 km ² protected area in the western Canadian province of Quebec at Lac Chicobi in Guyenne, located around 45 km from Amos.

The park represents within the protected area system of the province of the Abitibi County Municipality and in particular the hills, as the Collines Tanginan that are as typical of the region, such as the torfreichen levels.

The Tanginan Collines, a chain of hills, which form the backbone of the protected area. They soar to 440 m, while the lowlands about 290 m above the sea level. It is a typical glacial landscape that was never used for agricultural purposes, in contrast to the surroundings.

More than a third of the plant species Abitibis can be found in the small sanctuary. The boreal forest is dominated by black spruce (French épinette noire ), the wet, slow draining locations preferred.

Such torfreichen areas exist in Canada, unlike Europe, still very many. They are threatened mainly by dams. Thus disappeared only by the floods triggered by them 120,000 ha peatlands in Quebec City, a total of 174,000 ha disappeared The second most common cause of loss is the drainage for forestry. In neighboring New Brunswick, however, the Torfabstechen for horticulture is the biggest threat. But while the provinces of Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Iceland and New Brunswick have provided a greater portion of these areas under protection, namely 25, 15, 12.5 and 11 % of the land, this proportion is located in Quebec by only 3.6 %. Overall, the province has peat soils to the extent of 118,263 km ². Overall, they take in Canada, 17 % of the country, with the greatest threat to soil from agriculture emanates.

By 2000 only 16,445 ha were put under protection in Quebec City, which was about 0.1 % of the total areas. This proportion increased to 2008 to 36,895 ha in parks and since 2002 more 383 001 in biodiversity areas. At that time there were 69 Réserves écologiques in Québec. The oldest sanctuary for Moore was born 1978 in Pointe- Heath. Although the ecological value of the site has been detected later than the beginning of the 1970s, but it was not until 2002 until it was placed under protection.
