Chicopee River

The Chicopee River is a left tributary of the Connecticut River in the U.S. state of Massachusetts.

The Chicopee River is formed at the confluence of Ware River and Quaboag River at Three Rivers in the Town of Palmer. From there it flows over a distance of 29 kilometers to the west. It flows through Ludlow, is briefly the northern city limits of Springfield and Chicopee finally flows into the Connecticut River. The Chicopee River has the largest catchment area (1870 km ² ), all tributaries of the Connecticut River. Due to its large amount of water and a gradient of 80 m settled earlier mills along the river to. There are six dams on the Chicopee River, serving the power generation.
