Chief Analytics Officer

The Chief Analytics Officer ( CAO ) is in the English-speaking world the name for a person who is responsible for the analysis of data within a company or public institution.

The position of the CAO, together with that of the Chief Information Officer, won due to the ever-growing requirement of the analysis of data and numbers is becoming increasingly important. Both positions are similar in some ways, the CIO is more concentrated more on the infrastructure to operate and manage the IT and the CAO to the pure analysis.

A similar position to the CAO is the Chief Data Officer, this is more concerned on the data processing and maintenance. The position as CAO requires a solid understanding of statistical analysis, marketing, finance and business administration. The CAO may be a member of the Board of Directors, but this depends on the respective companies.
