The Chiemgau Alps are a to 1961 m above sea level. NN high mountain range in the Northern Limestone Alps in the Eastern Alps. Proportion have Germany with the Free State of Bavaria and to a lesser extent also Austria with the provinces of Tyrol and Salzburg.

After the Alpine Club classification of the Eastern Alps (AVE ) of the Chiemgau Alps are bounded by the Alpine foothills of Rosenheim on the lake Chiemsee - Traunstein - Teisendorf to Bad Reichenhall - Saalachstrasse to Lofer - Strubtal ( Lofer Bach) - Waidring - Griesbach - Erpfendorf - Kössener Ache to Kossen - Weissbach - Walchsee - Durchholzen - Ash Taler Bach - Jennbach - Inn to Rosenheim.

Summit

The highest peaks of the Bavarian Alps is the Sonntagshorn (1961 m ) on the border between Bavaria and Salzburg south of Ruhpolding and north of toads.

In the central part between Prien and Traun south of Lake Chiemsee, the well established tourist view Kampenwand ( 1669m ), Geigelstein (1813 m), Hochgern (1748 m), Hochfelln ( 1674 m) and Rauschenberg rise (1645 m). In the far east of the Chiemgau Alps, north of Bad Reichenhall, there is the striking Hochstaufen (1771 m ), also a popular vantage summit, and (not to be confused with the town of Zwiesel in the Bavarian Forest ) by a rocky ridge with the slightly higher Zwiesel is connected to the Gamsknogel.

The peak shapes are usually not particularly rugged and offer something for walking tours. However, there are also two popular climbing mountains: the Kamp wall and the Hörndlwand (1684 m). Also at the stone slab (1869 m), located in the southern Bavarian Alps on the border triangle between Bavaria, Tyrol and Salzburg, there are numerous climbing routes. Largest ski area is the ski resort Winklmoos stone slab in the Bavarian- Tyrolean border area. There are in addition a number of smaller ski lifts. Remote / distance trails

The Via Alpina, a cross-border long-distance trail with five sub- paths through the whole Alps, also passes through the Chiemgau Alps.
