Chiengi

Chiengi is a place on Lake Mweru in the Luapulaprovinz in Zambia. It is located 1,150 meters above sea level and is the seat of the administrative district of the same name with 83 824 inhabitants ( 2000 census ).

Chiengi lies on the western edge of the Mweru - Wantipa National Park in an inaccessible region bordering Tanzania and DR Congo. The number of motor boats and motocross machines is high for this area. The much larger border town of Pweto, run to the regular minibuses, located a few kilometers north-west, the east and north, however, is just a forest. This proved already in the Congo during the civil war as difficult as many militia sought refuge here after fierce fighting around Pweto.

In a nearly 100 -acre Mündungsaue on Mweruseewird intensive agriculture. In addition, fishing is the main source of income.
