Chilblains

Under chilblains ( Perniones ) refers to itchy painful swelling under the skin caused by repeated exposure to cold and moisture.

As with frostbite often less perfused areas of the body such as toes, ears and fingers are affected. Chilblains usually heal without treatment within three weeks. During this time, you should keep the affected area warm, do not scratch and if necessary treat existing itching with a corresponding ointment.
