Children of Mars

Children of Mars is an animated documentary short film by Frank Donovan from the year 1943.

Action

When their mothers have to go to work during the Second World War, three children come off the rails and become delinquent due to neglect. In some cities, this problem is already being actively addressed. The film shows the day-care centers where children can enjoy themselves during working hours of their mothers, and the work of so-called recreational agencies ( " Agencies Recreation ").

Production

Children of Mars was one of many films of the time, which dealt with the (new ) problem of youth crime ( eg more Where Are Your Children, 1943; ? Youth in Crisis, 1943; Youth Runs Wild, 1944). The film was released as part of the series This is America. He received a copyright entry on 22 October 1943.

Awards

Children of Mars in 1944 nominated documentary short film for an Oscar in the category of Best, but could not prevail against December 7th themselves.
