The Ruta 9 (abbreviated RN 9), is a trunk road in the South American Andean country Chile. It bears the name Ruta 9 Longitudinal. The Ruta 9 is located in the south of Chile. It combines the continental zone of the Magallanes y Antártica Chilena de la from north to south. It rises in the border pass Paso Fronterizo Baguales Oriental at an altitude of 1271 m. It happened Cerro Castillo, Puerto Natales and Punta Arenas, the banks of Estrecho de Magallanes and finally ends in Fuerte Bulnes, only a few kilometers from the Cape Froward, the southernmost point of the South American mainland. It has the status of a national longitudinal axis.

The section of Baguales Oriental Estancia Las Chilenitas is completely unpaved. From Las Chilenitas to commune Torres del Paine, there is a gravel road. From the latter place to Río Amarillo (south of Punta Arenas ) is paved. Currently also the section Río Amarillo Fuerte Bulnes is gravel, but is paved.
