Chilubi

Chilubi, also Chilubi Iceland, is a town with 4,100 inhabitants ( 2006 estimate ) in the northeast of Bangweulusümpfe in the Northern Province of Zambia. It is the seat of the administration of the district of the same with 66 338 inhabitants ( 2000 census ).

Geography

Chilubi is located in the swamps in the rainy season on an island in the dry season at a large stream of water Bangweulusees. The largest part of the district consists of islands. Low-water are the critical infrastructure, and banana boat is the only means of transport in addition to the mail boat from Samfya.

Economy

The district plans to grow coffee at the higher margins and operating beekeeping. For the swamps he wants to create fish farms to counteract the loss of income during the annual close season. The FAO, in turn, noted that the 1997/98 corn production had declined by 58 %, because the supply of seeds and fertilizers had been inadequate.

Infrastructure
