Chimaira

Chimaira [ kɪ'məɻə ] ( Faithful transcription of Χίμαιρα, chimera ) is the name of an American metal band from Cleveland, Ohio. The band is regarded as the founder of the so-called New Wave of American Heavy Metal.

History

Foundation and The Impossibility of Reason (1998-2003)

Chimaira was formed in 1998 by Mark Hunter and Jason Hager. Initially musically rather located in the direction of nu metal, the band changed their musical style but then and played more metalcore. After the first few months of existence, it appeared as the opening act for bands like Machine Head, Overkill or Cannibal Corpse.

Published in 2000 Chimaira This Present Darkness their first EP at East Coast Empire Records, Chimaira it received a contract with Roadrunner Records. With Roadrunner Records 2001 they brought their first studio album, Pass Out Of Existence out. Shortly after the release Jason Hager got out of his band. As a replacement for him Matt DeVries was engaged. In its new configuration, then they went with bands such as Slayer, Fear Factory and Danzig on tour.

Their second album, The Impossibility of Reason, was released in 2003 and went stylistically significantly more in the direction of Metal. The following tour they contested along with Ill Niño and Spineshank. From this tour, seven songs were recorded and together with four videos, a documentary and the remastered This- Present Darkness EP released in 2004 on DVD The Dehumanizing Process.

Line-up changes and Chimaira (2003-2006)

Furthermore, the band I went with In Flames, Slipknot, Soilwork and everytime the tour. This left Chimaira Andols Herrick and had to be replaced by the Soilwork drummer Rickard Evensandt, but he was not long member of the band. A solid drummer, the band found only in 2004 with Kevin Talley, with which she toured the United States and then Australia. After creation, Chimaira went again into the studio to record their third album, Chimaira. They played then at concerts with bands such as GWAR, Devil Driver or Opeth. In August 2005, then finally appeared the thrash metal album lastigere Chimaira.

In January 2006, returned after two years of self-discovery break, Andols Herrick in the band back after during the recording of the anniversary album to mark the 25th anniversary of Roadrunner Records ( Roadrunner United) he realized how much he missed the band.

With the song "Army of Me", the band was on the soundtrack to Freddy vs. Jason heard.

Resurrection and The Infection (2006 -present)

Mid- October 2006 it was announced that the band signed to new music labels. The next album should appear in the United States in Ferret Records in the rest of the world via the German label Nuclear Blast. On 2 March 2007 the new album Resurrection was released in Europe.

The subsequent album The Infection was published on 24 April 2009.

November 22, 2010 bassist Jim LaMarca left the band, Emil Werstler of Daath replaced LaMarca on bass. These left Andols Herrick and Chris Spicuzza the band and were replaced by Austin D' Amond ( Bleed the Sky ), and Sean Z ( Daath ) replaced. These announced Matt " MFA " DeVries on 12 August 2011 that he would leave the band for personal reasons. 2011 also left the longtime lead guitarist Rob Arnold of the band.
