China Classification Society

The China Classification Society (Chinese:中国 船级社, abbreviated as CCS, German: China Classification Society ), headquartered in Shanghai, is a worldwide operating classification society.

Particulars

The company was founded in 1956 in China and has since been working in the field of ship classification. In the years of existence, the CCS expanded its activities by the drawee only on ships visit on related areas, such as damage surveys, classification of offshore structures or to the Marine Research from. The CCS was included the China Classification Society as a full member of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS ) in May 1988 and works with an ISO 9001 -compliant quality management.

The highest class character of the CCS is part of the classification and conditions of the Institute of London Underwriters ( ILU ). Furthermore, the CCS is an associate member of the International Association of Dry Cargo Shipowners ( INTERCARGO ) and the International Association of Independent Tanker Owners ( INTERTANKO ). The company is represented by 58 offices worldwide, and was authorized by 28 States for classifications of ships flying their flag in late 2008. End 2009 2282 ships were classified with a gross capacity 34.45 million GRT in the CCS.
