China Telecom

China Telecom Corp.. Ltd.. is the largest telecommunications provider in China. The company is active in 31 provinces and is since 2002 on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange ( HKSE: 728 ): listed as well as the NYSE ( NYSE CHA ).

China Telecom was originally a state-owned monopoly. The northern business activities of this organization were separated in 2002 and transferred to the China Netcom.

The company had 2008 216 million subscribers in April and was on 2 June 2008 that China Unicom to buy for 110 billion RMB infrastructure for an additional 43 million mobile customers. China Telecom controls 35 million subscribers around 62 % of China's broadband connections.
