Chinameca (volcano)

The volcano Cerro El Pacayal is a stratovolcano in the eastern part of the country of El Salvador. The following alternative spellings of the Cerro El Pacayal are also known Volcan Chinameca, Volcan de Chinameca, Volcán Volcán de Chinameca and Chinameca.

Location

It is situated north of the volcanic area Chaparrastique in the department of San Miguel in the municipal area of ​​the city Chinameca. Earthquake

1951 occurred three earthquake measuring between 5.9 to 6.2 ( Richter scale ). The last earthquake on 6 and 7 May 1951, the base of the volcano, many houses were destroyed and 25,000 people were left homeless.
