Chinese noctule

The Chinese noctule ( Nyctalus plancyi ) is a species of bat of the genus noctule within the Myotis bats ( Vespertilionidae ). It is endemic in the People's Republic of China with a comparatively large area of ​​distribution in the Southeast and Taiwan.

Features

Nyctalus aviator is compared to other Noctules relatively small species with a head -body length of 6.5 to 7.5 centimeters with a tail 3.6 to 5.2 centimeters in length. The forearm reaches a length of 4.7 to 5.0 centimeters, the hind foot is 1.0 to 1.1 inches long and the ear of 1.5 to 1.8 centimeters. The fur is brown and darker than the Great Noctule; while the bases of the hair reddish brown and the tops are dark brown. The belly is slightly lighter than the back. Dissemination

The Chinese noctule is endemic in the People's Republic of China with a comparatively large area of ​​distribution in the Southeast and Taiwan. He comes here in two subspecies, of which N. p. plancyi in the provinces of Beijing, Shandong, Henan, Shaanxi, Gansu, Liaoning and Jilin and N. p. velutinus in the provinces of Fujian, Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Guizhou, Yunnan, Sichuan and Hebei as well as in Hong Kong and Taiwan occurs.

Way of life

The Chinese noctule is nocturnal and feeds like other species of the genus mainly of insects. When resting places of the kind in addition to caves, old trees and rock crevices also ancient temples and roofs were identified, of which they start their prey flights.

The hibernation with the pairings begins in early to mid -November. Ovulation falls in March, where the females store the male sperm and thus bring to delayed fertilization. The gestation period is 50 to 60 days, and in June two young are usually born.
