The Chinese- German School for Postgraduate Studies (short: CDHK ) was founded in 1998 as a joint project of the DAAD and the Tongji University in Shanghai. Thus, the CDHK understood as a bridge between the German and the Chinese education system and as a successful project in the exchange of knowledge between the two countries.

History

Founded as the Tongji University in 1907 by the German physician Erich Paulun, thus the University has traditionally had numerous contacts Germany. In 1993, visited the then Chancellor Helmut Kohl Shanghai to be ready for first considerations of a common higher education colleges. A joint agreement between the DAAD and Tongji University sealed in 1996 this idea and the following year launched the teaching of the German language studies. In 1998 started the teaching of electrical engineering and economics. The CDHK building is located on the Siping Campus of Tongji University in Chifeng Lu and was completed in 2002.

Teaching

On the Chinese-German School for Postgraduate Students attend from all over China three -year Master courses of the subjects of Mechanical Engineering, electrical engineering, economics and business law. The bilingual education includes a stay in Germany in the form of an internship or a semester abroad for Chinese students.

From the various partner universities German students may be eligible for a one-to two-semester stay abroad to Shanghai and learn at the side of Chinese students. The courses are offered in Chinese, German and English.

In the teaching of Chinese scientists are working alongside German guest lecturers who have all studied or doctorate in Germany. More than 30 German and Chinese companies have set up in the college endowed chairs. A college magazine - CDHK - to-date - informed quarterly of teaching and research.
