Chirkey Dam

The Tschirkei Dam or " Tschirkeiskaja Dam " (Russian Чиркейская ГЭС / Tschirkeiskaja GES) on the river Sulak in Dagestan is the second highest dam in Russia, the fifth largest in the CIS and one of the world's 20 highest.

The dam is 232.5 m high and 333 m long arch dam was built from 1974 to about 1977. When construction is also given in 1964 to 1978. The dam is used for power generation and provides with four turbines of 250 MW each a total of 1000 MW. The operator company is called Dagenergo.
