Chiswick Park tube station

Chiswick Park is an aboveground station London Underground in the London Borough of Ealing. It is located in the Travelcard Zone 3 at the Acton Lane and is served by trains on the District line. In 2011, 1.97 million passengers used the station.

Was opened the station on 1 July 1879, the Metropolitan District Railway ( predecessor of the District Line ) on the newly constructed route of Turnham Green to Ealing Broadway. First was the name Acton Green Station, according to a park in the vicinity. This was amended in March 1887 in Chiswick Park and Acton Green. The track, located on the Chiswick Park, was electrified on 1 July 1905. On March 1, 1910, the station was given its present name.

The station building still preserved today was built in 1932 to designs by Charles Holden. Template was designed by Alfred Grenander while the subway station Krumme Lanke in Berlin. The most striking feature is the semi-circular counter area with large clerestory. Above it rises a high square tower made ​​of red bricks. Occasion of the renovation was the extension of the Piccadilly Line from Hammersmith in the direction of the west, with the Piccadilly Line passes through the breakpoint Chiswick Park without stopping. These two tracks were laid between those of the District Line. Since 1987, the building is a listed building (Grade II).
