Chitungwiza

Chitungwiza is a young city at about 1,500 m altitude nine kilometers south of Harare in Zimbabwe. It was founded in 1981 from the three suburbs ( townships ) Seke, Zengeza, as well as St Mary's put together and is with 321 782 inhabitants ( 2002 census ), the third largest and one of the fastest growing cities in the country.

Chitungwiza is a " dormitory town " of Harare. Most people who live here work in the capital. There are hospitals, schools and infrastructure, with the comprehensive care of the inner city of Harare is made.

Chitungwiza is a stronghold of the MDC ( Movement for Democratic Change).
