Chiuduno

Chiuduno is a municipality in the Province of Bergamo in the Italian region Lombardy with 5886 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Geography

Chignolo d' Isola is located 15 km southeast of the provincial capital of Bergamo and 60 km northeast of the city of Milan.

The neighboring municipalities are Bolgare, Carobbio degli Angeli, Grumello del Monte and Telgate.

History

The settlement was in its founding period Gallic origin. Later, the Romans used the place as a post on the main trading route between Bergamo and Brescia, and gave him the name Claudunum. For the first time the town was named as such in the year 795 in an official document.
